The Ancient Beechwood of Cozzo Ferriero
Transfer by van (30 minutes) to Fasanelli refuge. Besides the Loricato pine, the Pollino National Park has the merit of preserving a strip of an ancient beechwood, untouched by logging for ages. It’s a stark forest, wilderness, not very touristy, despite the millenary presence of man that has a deep cultural connection with it. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4

Maratea
Transfer by van (about an hour and a half). Walking up through narrow alleys, you will reach the old town of Maratea. From here, after a short refreshment break, you will climb up a narrow path immersed in the Mediterranean scrub up to Madonna degli Ulivi and, finally, crossing the dizzy old town of Maratea, you will arrive to the statue of the Redeemer. From this point you will admire the whole Gulf of Policastro and, on the clearest days, it is possible to see Stromboli. After enjoying the glorious landscape of the coast, you will walk down to Maratea along a scenic road to the old town. Dinner and overnight stay.
